Our new name - The Game Assembly!
The Game Academy changes name to The Game Assembly today!
Hermods changes the name on The Game Academy to The Game Assembly. This is due to a dispute to the trademark with a German company plus we wanted a name that portrayed our education better. We educate both game artists and game programmers here at The Game Assembly. The games our students create and build they do together, both game artists and game programmers. And that´s because The Game Assembly work hard with with communication skills. Because it´s in the communication mistakes can appear. The word assembly means meeting place. forum and gathering – to put together. And that´s The Game Assembly. We meet up and put together games.
Kostas Gialitakis, one of our game art teachers at The Game Assembly, says “ – It´s not the most ideal thing to do..to change name like this, but I must say that I like the new name. And I firmly believe that the Germans became sad when they noticed that we turned up on top on Google. We rock!!”
The Game Assembly’s programming teacher Martin Hammarbrink says
“ – It will take some time to spread the word about our new name but we have the the best students who work hard and hard work will show sooner or later..probably sooner. I just wonder what we are going to do with our school t-shirts with the old logo…maybe they will be collector items?”
The 31st of August we have 44 new students starting at The Game Assembly. This spring we had 170 applications and 21 of them were women. That´s twice as many women as last year.
Ann-Sofie Sydow, Hermods project manager for the The Game Assembly, says “ – We would never allocate anybody by quota to The Game Assembly. We are only looking for drive, determination and dedication and that´s something anybody can have. We firmly believe that if there is a multitude of people at our education we will have a more creative environment. And that would mean more varied games …and in the end more job openings.”
