Apply
The last date to apply to The Game Assembly 2010 was the 20th of May. Check back next year to apply for 2011.
You need to apply through the internet. And before you apply make sure you read this page. And of course you can write your application in Swedish.
You define if it is game art or game programming you want to apply for. Observe that you application only can be processed if it is complete. We will contact you either if you get to interview or not via mail by the address you write on the application.
We open up for applications in March but if you are going to send in your portfolio be sure to start building it in time. We only want to see your latest and your best work.
Important dates
Last application date: 20th of May 2010
Notice for interview is sent: June 2010
Interviews and information meeting: * June 2010*
Class of 2010 starts : 30th of August 2010
Observe that there may be minor date changes. So keep you self updated.
Together with your application you need to attach the following:
1. Personal letter: Attach a personal letter where you describe who you are and why you think you will become a good game artist/game programmer after you end your education at The Game Assembly. The personal letter is an important complement when we at The Game Assembly make the second selection among the applications. The letter is not supposed to be a repetition of your resumé (CV). The personal letter should give us a good understanding of you, your personality and your relationship to games. Answer the following questions in the letter: a) What type of qualities should a good game artist/game programmer have? Describe with three adjectives and explain the meaning. b) If you get admitted at The Game Assembly where do you see yourself in three years?
2. A photo of yourself
3. Resumé/CV: Attach a resume/CV. The resumé should contain a clear view of what you have done since compulsory school (education, work etc.)
4. Grades from Upper secondary school (gymnasiet): Attach your grades from Upper secondary school or corresponding that prove the entrance requirements and the particular legitimacy for either the game art program (English B) or the game programmer program (Math C and English B).
5. Portfolio: For you who apply for the Game Art program at The Game Assembly you need to send in your portfolio. Your portfolio should be in a digital format. If you only have a portfolio made in a traditional way on paper or other material (for example drawings and paintings) you need to scan or photograph it. All material should be carefully and accurate signed with name and contact information. Your digital portfolio must be sent to us on a CD/DVD and all the pictures needs to be in formats that are common and easy for us to view. We can’t install new programs on our computers just to view a few pictures. Please understand that we hade hundreds of pictures to look at. We have tried to let some send in there portfolio via mail and via other ways but it is time consuming for us and messy since most applicants don’t name their work in a logical way. To be sure if your portfolio is easy to view let someone else look at it. If they have problems we sure will. Send the portfolio to this address: The Game Assembly/Hermods AB, 205 10 Malmö. Sign the envelope with ” The Game Assembly – Portfolio”. Make sure you don’t send us everything you have. We only want to see your latest material and the best. We look for talent in drawing (both in a traditional way and digital) and an openness to digital tools. The last day for sending in your portfolio is the last application date.
For you who apply for the game programming program it’s open to send in a portfolio that strengthen your application. You could for example send in a mini game that you have programmed or a modification of a game. All sent in material needs to be carefully marked up with your name and contact information.
If you have your portfolio on a homepage please let us know in your personal letter. Send the portfolio to this address: The Game Assembly/Hermods AB, 205 10 Malmö. Sign the envelope with ” The Game Assembly – portfolio”
Make sure that you marked all your papers and documents with your contact information.
Make sure you define which program you apply for, game art or game programming. If you by any chance apply for both (which we don’t recommend since having talent in both areas is very, very rare)
Make sure you have filled your application completely. Your application needs to be complete otherwise we cant process it.
Before you send in your application be sure to go through it again or/and let some one else go through it so it is complete and easy to view and so you haven’t missed anything.
We won´t return any material you send to us.
Foreign grades and certificates (except from English) needs to be translated.
